England Test match skipper Alastair Cook has confirmed that he would be ready to tour Bangladesh should the tour actually happen later next month. However, while the 31-year old is ready to take the risk of touring amid the security issues, limited-overs’ skipper Eoin Morgan is still unclear whether he would indeed take the plunge Cook has taken and made it for the tour.

The tour of England was expected to be a ground-breaking one for Bangladesh as this series would go on to put them back on the map. However, the tour was in doubt shortly after when a bomb blast rocked Dhaka killing 20 people, 17 of whom were overseas individuals. England committed to the tour after an ECB delegation, led by highly regarded security advisor Reg Dickason, declared Bangladesh safe despite a terrorist attack.

With a few players including Morgan still unsure about the tour, it is clear that something will certainly have to be done by Andrew Strauss to send in an England unit that will be able to compete against a Bangladesh outfit that is known to cause an upset or two.

England bowler Liam Plunkett on Monday admitted he had yet to make up his mind. He said, ‘People are just digesting what went on in our meeting over Bangladesh and I will have a bit more of a think once the Pakistan series is done. You pick up a paper and there’s trouble everywhere in the world so I don’t know but I’ll speak to my family once the series is done, have a good think, look into it a bit more and come up with a decision.’

Bangladesh cricket has been on the ascendency in the past few years. Apart from having made it to the quarterfinal of the 2015 World Cup down under, they have defeated India and South Africa in home series.
