All out approach not the order of the day, says Kedar Jadhav

The 32-year-old was working on tightening up his game in the nets and also on playing the ball as close to the body as possible.

Team India is in England preparing themselves with a couple of warm-up matches ahead of the Champions Trophy. They played their first practice game against New Zealand at ease with the batsmen getting crucial match practice and getting used to the conditions. Kedar Jadhav, who wasn’t part of the proceedings on Sunday watched from the dugout and tried to analyse the changing conditions.

The pitch though looked flat wasn’t the easiest to bat on – the batsmen needed to work hard for their runs and while sitting on the sidelines the Maharashtra skipper could pick that up. Jadhav, who is playing in his first ICC event, said in an interview in London that he would have tuck himself up and his usual all-out approach in playing in English conditions.

Tightening his technique

“Yesterday, I could see the batsmen working hard for every run and did not look settled with the conditions changing frequently,” said Jadhav. He said that there was grass on the wicket which helped the bowlers also accompanied by the ball swinging because of the windy and overcast conditions. The 32-year-old was working on tightening up his game in the nets and also on playing the ball as close to the body as possible.

On the team and his own preparation for successfully defending their title, Jadhav said, “The preparation so far has been satisfying. Hopefully, I will get to bat in the warm-up tomorrow and then we have three four days to acclimatize in Birmingham.”

The whole country is waiting for the first match of the tournament on Sunday and incidentally the fact that it is against Pakistan has only made it bigger. Being asked on his thoughts on the clash against Pakistan, the power hitter said: “I guess as professional cricketers, we don’t involve our emotions. We play all our opponents with the same intensity. It is the crowd who creates the environment. It is good to have people coming but we treat every opponent with respect.”
