The India team scripted history by registering their first ever series win on South African soil in the recently concluded ODI leg. The Virat Kohli-led squad outclassed their opponents in every department as they sealed the six-match series 5-1.With history created, the Men in Blue looked keen to keep the momentum going into the shorter format as well.

The nations locked horns in the first of the three T20I fixtures yesterday at Wanderers Stadium, in Johannesburg. In the absence of skipper Faf du Plessis and AB De Villiers, the visitors exploited it to the fullest as they registered yet another comprehensive victory of the Proteas. India started the T20I series with a 28-run win as Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with career-best figures of 5/24, his maiden five-for in T20Is, as South Africa could manage 175/9 while chasing the 204-run target.

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is a popular cricket fanatic. He has been a globetrotter and maintained sporadic appearances during India’s matches. And soon enough the game culminated, ‘Big B’ took to his Twitter handle to congratulate and heap praises on team India. However, he remained clinical of the biased commentating that was visible and believes it only makes the team stronger as a unit.

Bachchan wrote, “T 2619 – INDIA wins first T20 against SoAf .. brilliant play .. loved the aggression .. and loved the bias commentating .. keep doing that please ..coz’ every time you do that we WIN handsomely!

Match Details

Riding on Shikhar Dhawan’s 72 and Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s five-wicket haul, India beat South Africa by 28 runs to go 1-0 up in the three-match T20 series. Following Bhuvneshwar’s fifer, he also became the first India pacer to achieve the feat in T20Is.

South Africa lost three early wickets inside the first seven overs before opener Reeza Hendricks and Farhaan Behardien gave the hosts some hope with their 81-run partnership.

But Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s triple-strike in the 18th over ensured a brilliant win over India. Reeza Hendricks kept South Africa in the hunt with a 70 off 50 balls, but his wicket in the 18th over triggered a late collapse.
