The entire cricket fraternity was left shell-shocked when MS Dhoni stepped down as the limited-overs captain. Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was no different. Much like any other cricket fan in the country, even the actor is an ardent supporter. Dhoni decided to step down as the captain a couple of days ago. The decision came out of the blue for the fans and his teammates too. Truth be told, the decision must have been a very tough one for Dhoni too.

He would have arrived at the conclusion after having thought about it thoroughly and inside out. Dhoni led India in a record 331 matches in international cricket across all the three formats of the game. This remains to be the most matches by any captain of an international side.

Certainly, the man from Ranchi has left a big void to fill for the next skipper Virat Kohli. He left behind a legacy that will be hard to match and even get close by. Amitabh Bachchan rightly pointed the very same fact when he took to micro blogging site Twitter recently. The veteran actor posted a tweet heaping praise on India’s greatest finisher and perhaps the most successful captain.

Amitabh cited that Dhoni has the character traits of a true leader. He did not let his ego come in between and is ready to play under the leadership of someone else. He remains available for selection based on his batting and wicketkeeping credentials. In a very witty manner, the Senior Bachchan wrote that it is always better to be questioned ‘why’ than being questioned ‘why not’.
