Former England allrounder Andrew Flintoff might have troubled the Indian team with the bat and ball all his career but he is certainly a loved character in India. For he was the one who triggered Yuvraj Singh to hit six sixes in the World T20 match against England and that has a special space in every fan’s memory of Yuvraj as well as the World T20 success. Today Freddie picked his all-time Twenty20 XI and named as many as three Indian players in the list.

He has a rather surprising opening combination with former England opener Marcus Trescothick who is not a very famous T20 name along having played just 3 T20 matches in his career and scored 166 runs that included a couple of half centuries. His partner is the dasher, the smasher ex-New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum.

The most important batting position in the team is taken by Indian captain Virat Kohli. The 28-year-old is in the prime of his game and is playing some run real knocks and cricket. He has been around the top spot in all three formats of the game. 2016 truly belonged to him as he went on to smash quite a few records in T20I cricket as well. At 4 he has another Indian legend in master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

“I’ll go with Kohli at three, who is on a different planet right now, and Sachin at four. You don’t need that much power, you look at the way Sachin played, it’s all about timing and technique and clever batting. You don’t have to hit it into the top tier,” Flintoff said about the duo.

He has two power packed allrounders in Andrew Symonds and Ben Stokes, he gave MS Dhoni a miss and picked Adam Gilchrist as his wicketkeeper-batsman while the bowling unit has two off-spinners Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan and Indian spin ace, Ravichandran Ashwin.

With Stokes in the line-up, he picked just two frontline fast bowlers in Pakistani legend Wasim Akram and former English pacer Darren Gough.

Andrew Flintoff’s all-time T20 XI:

Marcus Trescothick, Brendon Mccullum, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Andrew Symonds, Ben Stokes, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Muttiah Muralitharan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wasim Akram, Darren Gough.
