Anil Kumble meets Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan to establish a sports university in the state

One of Indian cricket’s most famous names, Anil Kumble met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy to set up a sports university in Andhra Pradesh. This was intimated through a statement issued by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh.

It was also reported that Kumble and Jagan Mohan Reddy discussed the prospects of developing sports in Andhra. Kumble has also suggested that the Andhra Pradesh Government should set up some manufacturing plants for the production of sports equipment.

Anil Kumble is one of the all-time greats of Indian cricket

Anil Kumble will go down as arguably the greatest bowler that India has ever produced, especially in Test match cricket. The leg-spin wizard is the only Indian bowler to have taken over 600 wickets in Test cricket.

Kumble represented India in 132 Test matches and scalped a whopping 619 wickets in his illustrious career. He is also the only Indian bowler to have taken all 10 wickets to fall in a single innings. He accomplished this stupendous feat in a Test match against Pakistan in February 1999 at Delhi.

Kumble has also featured in 271 ODI matches for India as well and has picked up 337 scalps. He is the highest wicket-taker for India in ODI cricket as well. Kumble has also featured in a staggering four World Cups for India.

He was a part of the Indian squad that reached the summit clash of the 2003 World Cup. The leg-spinning colossus also played 42 matches in the IPL and picked up 45 wickets at an average of 23.51 and a strike rate of 21.44. He also gave away runs at an economy rate of 6.58 in his IPL career.

Kumble played his last match for India in the year 2008 against Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. He picked up 3 wickets in his final Test match for his country.
