Cricketer-turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar draws more headlines for his antics behind the mic as well as on his social media handles than he ever did during his nine-year International career. Remember the 2019 World Cup? Remember his comments on star all-rounder during the quadrennial event? Remember when he termed Ravindra Jadeja as a “bits and pieced cricketer”? And, when Jadeja not only retaliated not only on Twitter but also with his on-field shenanigans?
During the 2019 World Cup, there were two words that went on to become a rage: 3D and bits-and-pieces. Both words are literally the antonyms of each other and the former was coined by the chief selector MSK Prasad when he was justifying the selection of all-rounder Vijay Shankar over batsman Amabti Rayudu.
During the league stage of the World Cup, fans on social media as well as the pundits wondered why Ravindra Jadeja- a real three dimensional player in every sense was not given a chance. Manjrekar, who was commentating during the quadrennial event had passed a remark on the all-rounder, stating he was not a big fan of “bits-and-pieces” players
“I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point in his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” Manjrekar had said.
The comment by Manjrekar did not go down well with the star all-rounder and Jadeja took to Twitter to vent his displeasure at the former Mumbai and India batsman. Jadeja wrote, “Still, I have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea.@sanjaymanjrekar”

Jadeja not only tore apart Manjrekar not only on Twitter but also with his on-field shenanigans; one that almost won India the semi-final against New Zealand, forcing Manjrekar to take back his words.
Sanjay Manjrekar trolled on Twitter again
Manjrekar became the butt of social media trolls yet again after he posted a tweet on “being a parent”. On a day when the entire country is celebrating Bhai Dooj, the cricketer-turned-commentator shared an overheard conversation of his son “on speakerphone to his sister.”
The trolls did not miss the chance to post jokes on former cricketer, ranging from his commentary to the aforementioned spat with Ravindra Jadeja earlier this year. Sanjay Manjrekar tweeted: “My son on speaker phone to his sister. ‘I got a revelation the other day about how dad was wrong.’ #BeingAParent.”
