Arjun Tendulkar named in the India U19 squad

Arjun Tendulkar has been named in the India U19 squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour by the selectors. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad on Thursday for the tour which commences later in June. He was the part of the U19 training camp that was held in Dharamsala last week and might have impressed everyone with his all-round skills.

According to the reports in Sportstar, Arjun Tendulkar, the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar has been picked in the squad which will travel to Sri Lanka this month. Interestingly, he will groomed under Rahul Dravid now who is the coach of the U19 team which won the World Cup earlier this year. The trio of Aashish Kapoor, Gyanendra Pandey and Rakesh Parikh picked both the squads who comprise the selection committee at the U19 level.

Arjun named in the four-day squad

Arjun Tendulkar has been picked only in the squad which will play four-day matches during their tour to the island nation. It will be led by Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat who was earlier picked for the U19 Asia Cup in 2017 and also had made his first-class debut in 2017. The Indian team is scheduled to play two four-day matches in Sri Lanka along with the five One-Day matches.

He was part of the core group of cricketers who were attending the camp in Zonal Cricket Academy (ZCA) and played matches in Una. Arjun has been in the thick of the things for a long time as he has bowled to the Indian cricketers in the nets during the home season last year. Also he had pulled out his name out of the inaugural edition of Mumbai T20 League which took place earlier this year in a bid to concentrate on his game. The move seems to have paid dividends and all eyes will be on him being the son of one of the most successful cricketers in the world.
