Sachin Tendulkar‘s son Arjun Tendulkar continues to make steady progress in his career. He impressed many with his all-round skills in the Mumbai T20 League earlier this year and now has been picked in the Mumbai squad for Bapuna Cup. This tournament is played in Nagpur before the domestic season gets underway which helps the players get into the groove.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced the 15-man squad led by Suryakumar Yadav on its official website on Monday. Bapuna Cup, organised by the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), will be played in the 50-over format and commences on September 5.

As far as the squad is concerned, Arjun Tendulkar will rub shoulders with some of the regular Mumbai players who have played for the senior team. A good performance in this competition could potentially lead to him playing for Mumbai in the upcoming domestic season.

Impressive Arjun

Arjun Tendulkar is being fast-tracked courtesy of his impressive performances. He has also bowled at the Indian team in the nets previously and moreover, was with the England team to help them tackle Mitchell Starc‘s threat during the World Cup. The all-rounder was also brilliant during his maiden appearance in the Mumbai T20 league this year. He scored 104 runs in six outings at a strike-rate of 123.81 while also picked five wickets with the ball.

As far as the rest of the squad is concerned, the likes of Aditya Tare, Eknath Kerkar, Suryakumar Yadav and Shams Mulani among others will be looking to make good use of the tournament. Mumbai didn’t have a great previous domestic season and would be itching to set the records straight.

Mumbai squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Aditya Tare, Jay Bista, Sarfaraz Khan, Shubham Ranjane, Raunak Sharma, Eknath Kerkar, Sufiyan Shaikh, Akash Parkar, Shams Mulani, Aditya Dhumal, Shashank Attarde, Aquib Kureshi, Kruthik Hanagavadi and Arjun Tendulkar.
