Arjun Tendulkar set to miss Mumbai T20 league

Arjun Tendulkar, de facto the son of Sachin Tendulkar, has been in the news for his fiery left-arm seam bowling. Last year, he hogged the headlines when he hit English batsman Jonathan Bairstow on the foot in a net-session at the iconic Lords Cricket Stadium. The cricketer was set to take to take part in the inaugural season of the Mumbai T20 league, however, has ruled himself out of the event. Arjun is looking forward to remodeling his action owing to which he has taken the decision.

A revamped action for Junior Tendulkar

“His last competitive game was on January 27. Since then he is progressing well. We just want to complete the whole process. At that time, we did not know that this [T20 Mumbai League] would come up. He has now gone a long way into it [remodeling his action],” a source was quoted as saying by mid-day. The pacer has been going through rigorous training along with Atul Gaikwad, a biomechanics expert, and is likely to return to competitive cricket from April.

“There cannot be an exact timeframe to this because it is about how comfortable you are feeling. By April, he should be able to bowl comfortably [with the new action]. He has been working on this since January 28. It takes some time. Hopefully, he should be ready for the next season,” the source added. The Mumbai T20 league will begin from March 11 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar has recently inaugurated the tournament and has been crowned as the brand ambassador.

Nevertheless, the league has suffered a body blow as one its bidders, Shree Naman Developers has backed out from participation. Hence, the organizers either need to find new bidders who can match Naman Developers bids or they have to start fresh bidding. Nonetheless, they would be hoping for a smooth and successful conduct of the awaited T20 league.
