Arjun Tendulkar hasn’t done anything of sorts in his short cricketing career. Yet, he is one of the most renowned names owing to the fact that he is the son of the legendary and enigmatic Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. His name has been doing the rounds for quite a while. Earlier this month, he was selected in India’s U19 team for their tour of Sri Lanka.

He was selected for the four-day matches and not the limited-overs fixtures as he won’t be eligible to play the U19 World Cup in 2020. While the selection was hailed by many, it was also termed as ‘nepotism’ by some people. Meanwhile, Sanath Kumar, the bowling coach of the U19 team has put forth the treatment which will be dished to the son of the Mater Blaster.

“I would like to focus more on strategic part”- Kumar

“He will be like any other member of the team. I don’t know about that as it’s not my area of concern but as a coach, all the boys are equal for me. For me, Arjun is no different from other kids. My job is to bring the best out of each and every one of them,” the coach was quoted as saying by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

Kumar has had quite a bit of experience in this role. He has previously worked with the women’s team and is contracted to be with the Colts team till the Asia Cup later this year. The mentor also mentioned the strategies he has charted out for them in order to get them accustomed to the match situations.

“I worked as a coach with Indian women’s team in 2008 during their tour of England. This time I am contracted to work till the end of the U-19 Asia Cup in Bangladesh in October, Look, in a short span of time, you can’t really work a lot on the technical aspect as they will be playing matches.

I would like to focus more on strategic part. Would like to prepare the boys for match situations with simulations,” he added.
