Team India has been on a rampage against the Windies in the limited-overs format at the moment. After winning the ODI series comfortably, they have already pocketed the T20I series thanks to Rohit Sharma’s record fourth century in Lucknow on Tuesday. Rohit has been at the helm for most parts of this year with Virat Kohli managing his workload with the World Cup only a few months away.

Rohit, leading the team, hasn’t done anything wrong so far and his own form has flourished remarkably as well. India has won 10 out of 11 matches he has been the captain which also includes the Nidahas Trophy victory earlier this year. The Hitman (as they say) has also notched up two centuries now in the format while being the leader of the pack.

It is not so surprising that the calls of making him a permanent captain are growing louder after every match. But the former Indian cricketer Ashish Nehra believes that Virat Kohli has done anything wrong to be replaced as the skipper and will be unfair on him.

Kohli has also done so well

“No I don’t think so. That’s not the right thing to do at this point of time. See Virat Kohli has also done so well because what he has done for India in all three formats and it will be unfair on him. Who knows? You are asking me this right now. At the moment Virat should continue leading the team,” Nehra said while speaking to Cricket Next.

However, the former left-arm pacer didn’t disagree with the fact that Kohli himself might chose to leave the captaincy in one of the shorter formats in order to concentrate in Test format after a couple of years. “But who knows after one or two years? Cricket is that kind of a game where Virat Kohli might say I want to do captaincy only in Test cricket. I am not the right person to answer this question. This is not in my hands and only selectors can decide it,” the 39-year-old added.
