Veteran pace bowler Ashish Nehra has been a juggernaut in Indian pace brigade. The age seems to be just a number for the lanky pacer from Delhi. Nehra had shocked everyone after staging a comeback at the age of 37 last year. Now, he has made another comeback this year or rather is on the brink of it. Nehra was named in the Indian squad for the 3-match T20I series against England. The series starts on January 26 at Kanpur.

However, as per the reports in Mumbai Mirror, the board has asked the senior bowler to prove his fitness before staging a comeback in the national setup. As a result, Nehra will now have to head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore before he joins the team for the practice sessions. Also, the board wants the veteran pacer to play domestic cricket after the conclusion of the T20I series against England.

Soon after the England series ends, a plethora of domestic cricket is on the cards. The inter-zonal T20 tournament will commence in February and then will be followed up by the Vijay Hazare trophy. Vijay Hazare trophy is the domestic 50 overs competition. Ashish Nehra last played for India in the ICC World T20 2016 against West Indies in Mumbai.

He was subsequently a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp in the IPL last year. However, midway through the IPL season, he succumbed to a hamstring injury. The injury saw him out of action for nearly 6 months. Now he is fit and raring to go.

Meanwhile, the England team has reached India for the limited overs series. The ODI series commences on January 15 with the first ODI scheduled to be played at Pune.  India had managed to totally outplay the English side in the Tests. They had won 4-0 in the series. They will now be eyeing to seal the ODI and T20I series as well.
