India’s spin twins, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have done wonders for the team over the last couple of years. While batsmen have had a tough time tackling them this time around there will be a competition within as the left-arm spinner will look to overhaul the offie in the Test bowlers rankings.

Both the spinners complement each other extremely well. Jadeja with his accurate bowling builds the pressure from one end while his partner has the freedom to go out with a full fledged attack. Ashwin is the number one bowler in the Test rankings at the moment and he leads the Saurashtra spinner by a margin of eight points.

The one-off Test against Bangladesh will be a great opportunity for Jadeja to cover some ground before the series against the Australians. For the same, Jadeja will have to outperform his partner which is anything but easy.

Ahead of the start of the match the standings are- Shakib Al Hasan (14th), Mehedi Hasan (36th) and Taijul Islam (39th) are the highest ranked bowlers of Bangladesh. Indian pacers Umesh Yadav (37th) and Ishant Sharma (23rd) will also have a chance to further improve their positions.

The top-ranked batters that feature in this Test are Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is second to Australian Steven Smith. He leads the Indian skipper by 58 points. Kohli can gain some ground in this Test match and set-up well for the four-Test series against the Aussies.

Other well-placed batsmen in the rankings are Cheteshwar Pujara (12th), Ajinkya Rahane (15th), Shakib Al Hasan (22nd) Murali Vijay (27th) and Bangladesh the opener Tamim Iqbal (28th) is ranked well.

Coming to the team rankings India sits pretty at the top with 120 points while Bangladesh are ranked at the 9th spot. If Bangladesh manages to win The test they will gain five points while India will come down from 120 to 118 points. If the hosts win the Test then they will add one point to their tally.

The one-off Test will be played from Thursday, 9th of February at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad.
