Some of the best teams in the cricketing world originate from the Asian subcontinent and thus all the six participating teams look at Asia Cup as the perfect setup to prepare for the World Cup 2019. The tournament will commence with a battle between two underdogs, where one side is aiming to regain the past glory whilst the other side is striving hard to create history and become an example for their future generation. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka might not be the favourites to start with, but they can cause a worry or two to the other teams.

Sri Lanka’s form has dipped considerably in the last few years, but there’s always scope for improvement. Bangladesh’s form graph on the other side has been showing an upward curve, suggesting how much they have improved in the last 4 years. To just say that this contest will be nerve-wracking would certainly be an understatement.

Pitch

The temperatures in Dubai are expected to be in the mid-30 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which will certainly keep the pitch dry. As the game progresses the spinners will come into play and should enjoy bowling here and although batting second has been a trend on this ground, the team winning the toss in the game might opt to bat first and put pressure on the side batting second.

Playing Combinations

Bangladesh

This is a side filled with amazing talents and will pose a stern test for most teams in this tournament. Tamim Iqbal will be opening alongside Liton Das and following him in the middle order is the experienced Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and Mohammad Mithun.

Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza will kick-start the innings with the new ball and Rubel Hossain will be his partner in crime. Mustafizur Rahman’s bowling variations will be Mortaza’s go-to option when in need. Mehidy Hasan will be hogging a lot of limelight given there’s any grip offered by the track.

Predicted XI

Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Mohammad Mithun, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

Sri Lanka

The Lankans will go in with two southpaws as openers, just like their opponents. Niroshan Dickwella will open the innings alongside the experienced Upul Tharanga. Comprising the middle order are the likes of Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews, and Dhananjaya de Silva.

Their talismanic speedster Lasith Malinga will be accompanied by Suranga Lakmal in the fast bowling department. Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera are the other medium pacers who will be eager to give the Bangladeshi batsmen a run for their money. Akila Dananjaya will be the lone spinner in the side.

Predicted XI

Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Upul Tharanga, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews (C), Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Akila Dananjaya, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga

Probable Top Performers

Tamim Iqbal – Bangladesh | Thisara Perera – Sri Lanka

The prediction is for Sri Lanka to win the game just going by the experience a few of their players carry.
