After a disappointing finish to the highly anticipated England tour, the Indian side is all set for the Asia Cup challenge without their skipper Virat Kohli. In his absence, Rohit Sharma will be leading the contingent and their campaign will kick-start with a clash against the newbies Hong Kong.

There’s absolutely no comparison between both sides on paper and clearly, this has to be a one-sided affair. But given Hong Kong can punch above their weight, the fans could be up for some really entertaining action. The Indian team management also has to take into consideration that they have a clash against Pakistan the very next day after this game.

Since the cricketing world has not seen Rohit Sharma many times as the Indian captain, it would be hard to figure out if he will go with a full-strength side for this game or try out a few youngsters. But it is expected that the best side will be playing on Tuesday and most of the big players would be featuring.

Pitch

A dry and slow track in Dubai awaits this one-sided contest. Since the Hong Kong bowlers are not well-versed on how to make the most out of such pitches, India still has a good chance of getting a score in excess of 300. But if India gets to bowl first, this game will fly away faster than time.

Playing Combinations

India

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will be the usual opening partners for the side, with Ambati Rayudu coming in at number 3. KL Rahul might be rested having returned from England just now. Manish Pandey might be returning to the XI after quite a while and so is the case with Kedar Jadhav, who is coming off a long injury layoff. MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya will have to handle the finishing responsibilities.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will feature in this game alongside Khaleel Ahmed, who might be making his International debut. But the biggest problem for the Hong Kong side is the wrist-spinning duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, who are not so easy to tackle. Pandya and Kedar Jadhav are the other options for Rohit with the ball.

Predicted XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Khaleel Ahmed

Tanveer Ahmed might take Ehsan Nawaz’s place in the XI. Aizaz Khan too will be hogging some limelight especially after his incredible spell in the final of the Qualifying tournament. The finger-spin duo of Ehsan Khan and Nadeem Ahmed too will be eager to provide a good quota of 10 overs to their skipper.
