Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been forced to fly back to Dhaka. Shakib, who was part of Bangladesh’s convincing victory over Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup, will be returning to the capital city of Bangladesh. He is scheduled to board a flight from Dubai on Tuesday at 4 pm. However, there is no confirmation as to when he will return to the UAE to join his team. According to reports, Shakib will be back with the Bangladesh side on September 19 or 20.

Shakib’s daughter Alayna Hasan Aubrey fell ill while staying in a Dubai hotel with her parents. The Bangladeshi all-rounder has therefore decided to fly her back to her home. ‘N9ine’ who work as Shakib’s agent, confirmed the authenticity of the information by saying, “Shakib’s daughter Alayna became sick in Dubai. As a result, Shakib Al Hasan will return to Dhaka with his family on Tuesday night. He is expected to join with the team again on the 19th or 20th of September.”

Bangladesh through to Super 4

Meanwhile, in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh are through to the Super 4, which is the second stage of the tournament. Bangladesh had already handed Sri Lanka a thrashing in the opening fixture of the Asia Cup. On Monday, Sri Lanka suffered yet another defeat against Afghanistan. The Lankans have therefore been knocked out of the tournament. Afghanistan and Bangladesh will progress to the Super 4 from Group B. The two teams will take on each other on Thursday, the 20th of September, in what is likely to be an inconsequential match.

On the other hand in Group A, Pakistan convincingly defeated Hong Kong in their first match of the tournament. The two teams are pooled with defending champions India, who will kick off their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on Tuesday. The most anticipated match of the tournament will, however, take place on Wednesday between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.
