Both India and Bangladesh have had impressive runs in their respective group matches of the 2018 Asia Cup. The Men in Blue had an almighty scare in the match against Hong Kong in Dubai due to a 174-run opening stand between Anshuman Rath and Nizakat Khan. However, Rohit Sharma’s men prevailed and won by 26 runs. In the second match against Pakistan, they were clinical and won by eight wickets.

Bangladesh, in their match against Sri Lanka, were pushed to the walls by fast-bowler Lasith Malinga after which Mushfiqur Rahim bailed them out. Even in the second match against Afghanistan, Mashrafe Mortaza’s men were clinical. The Tigers will lock horns with India in their first match of the Super 4. In our article, we have a look at Bangladesh’s predicted eleven for the next match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Openers (Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain)

Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who made his debut in the previous match against Afghanistan, are the openers in the lineup. Liton hasn’t had much success in the ODI format and he will be desperate to turn his fortunes around. He couldn’t quite play as per expectations thus far in the ongoing multi-nation tournament and bowlers have been able to get the better of him.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto has replaced Tamim Iqbal, who was earlier ruled out of the tournament, owing to a wrist injury after getting hit by a short delivery from right-arm fast bowler Suranga Lakmal. Against a fiery Indian bowling attack, Shanto won’t have it easy and needs to play with caution and side by side churn out some attacking strokes time and again to keep the opposition on the mat.

Middle-Order (Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mohammad Mithun)

Mushfiqur Rahim, the wicketkeeper-batsman, and Mohammad Mithun are the men in the middle-order. Mushfiqur, who developed a minor rib injury in the last match against Sri Lanka, is likely to come back into the eleven, replacing left-handed batsman Mominul Haque. Mohammad Mithun has done reasonably well in the event and he will be needed to step up in the crucial encounter.

All-rounders (Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain)

Shakib Al Hasan has been an indispensable member of the lineup ever since he forayed into international cricket. The southpaw faltered in the first match but came into his own against the Afghans. With the leather, he has been hard to get away owing to his immaculate line and lengths. Mahmudullah has also weaved his magic over several years for the team.

He’s not only a brutal hitter of the cricket ball coming lower down the order, but also a handy off-break bowler, who has got rid of the best in the business quite a number of times. Mosaddek Hossain is the other all-rounder in the lineup. The Mymensingh-born cricketer is also effective with the cherry along with being a more than effective lower order batsman.

Bowlers (Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza (C), Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman)

The bowling department is a formidable one, to say the least. Mustafizur Rahman is likely to make his way into the eleven, replacing Abu Hider Rony. Bearing in mind, his injury-prone nature, he was rested for the previous match. The left-arm seamer has troubled India with his slower deliveries and he will want to get a stranglehold of the opponent’s batsman.

Mashrafe Mortaza, the captain, has done decently in the previous two matches and his role will hold importance in Bangladesh’s all-important match. Off-break bowler Mehidy has picked up regular wickets. Moreover, he hasn’t conceded many runs and the onus will again be on him. Furthermore, the raw pace of Rubel Hossain needs to come to the fore.
