India became the first team to make it to the final of the Asia Cup 2018 thanks to a convincing 9-wicket win over Pakistan who will now face Bangladesh in a virtual semi-final match. Much like the group stage game, Pakistan collapsed after electing to bat first.

However, Shoaib Malik’s fifty helped them finish on 237/7 in their 50 overs which India chased down without breaking a sweat. Shikhar Dhawan marched his way through to a 100-ball 114 while the skipper Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 111 as India completed the chase with 63 balls to spare.

3 – Rohit Sharma became the 3rd Indian to score three consecutive fifty-plus scores in Asia Cup. He is the second captain to achieve the feat in the history of Asia Cup after Arjuna Ranatunga.


3 – For the first time, two Indian openers scored centuries in the same ODI against Pakistan. Overall, this is the 3rd instance when two Indians scoring hundreds in the same ODI against Pakistan.

Sachin Tendulkar and Navjot Singh Sidhu in the 1996 Sharjah ODI 1996 while Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid in the 2005 Kochi ODI had achieved this feat.


9 – For the first time, India defeated Pakistan in an ODI by nine wickets. This is also the first time in six years that Pakistan lost an ODI by nine wickets.


30 – Number of matches Yuzvendra Chahal took to complete 50 wickets in ODI cricket. He is the 5th quickest Indian to complete as many wickets.


35.4 – Number of overs Mohammad Amir has bowled without taking a wicket in the ODI format. He went wicketless in each of his last five ODI games.


102 – Innings Rohit Sharma needed to complete 5000 runs in ODI cricket as an opener. Only Hashim Amla (100) took fewer innings to get to this milestone.


108– Number of innings Shikhar Dhawan consumed to score 15 centuries in ODI format. Only two players have taken fewer innings to score their 15th ODI hundred.


181 – Rohit completed 7000 ODI runs in 181 innings thus becoming the 3rd quickest among Indians and the 5th fastest to the milestone overall.


210 – The 210-run opening stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is India’s highest opening stand in ODI cricket surpassing 159-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly in 1998.

This is also overall the highest opening stand for India in an ODI chase going past the unbeaten 201-run partnership between Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir in the 2009 ODI against New Zealand.


210 – Rohit-Dhawan pair’s 210-run partnership is India’s 2nd highest stand for any wicket against Pakistan in ODI format. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sachin shared 231 runs for the 2nd wicket in the 1996 Sharjah ODI.

This stand is also the second highest for the opening wicket by any pair against Pakistan in ODI cricket. David Warner and Travis Head added 284 runs in the 2017 Adelaide ODI.


301 – Number of sixes Rohit Sharma has hit in his International career. He is the seventh player to hit 300 sixes in International cricket and the second quickest to get there.
