India just continued from where they left off against Pakistan. They won the toss and opted to field only to see their bowlers do the job once again for them. Then the batsmen came out and gunned down the total with no real fuss. Bangladesh never came to the terms to the conditions and more than anything, their batsmen played extremely poor shots to leave the side reeling very early in the innings.

It all started with their openers Liton Das and Nazmul Hossain not giving their side good start once again. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah didn’t let them score many runs and pressure straight away told on them. But once they were dismissed, the onus was on the experienced Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Both of them looked assured with their plan but once the spinners, especially Ravindra Jadeja, was introduced, they crumbled.

First, it was Shakib who played a needless shot straight to the square leg fielder and then his partner went for an atrocious reverse sweep only to give a catch to Yuzvendra Chahal at the short third man. Meanwhile, Mohammad Mithun was caught in front of the stumps thanks to some tidy bowling from Jadeja. At 65/5, it looked like they will be blown away. But Mehidy Hasan made sure that they played the whole quota of their innings.

Eventually, they were bundled out for a meagre total of 173 runs in the final over and the chase looked to be a cakewalk for India.

Shikhar Dhawan took charge in the chase and attacked the bowlers up front even as his partner kept his cool and got his eye in. The left-hander was authoritative in his shot-making and looked elegant for his 40-run knock. But he misjudged a sweep shot to Mehidy and was out leg-before. But Rohit was set by then and he took on the bowling almost nonchalantly.

The backfoot punches came to the fore and the sixes he hit over the mid-wicket area were really pleasing to the eyes and eventually, he remained unbeaten in the end narrowly missing a well-deserved ton. Ambati Rayudu endured a failure but MS Dhoni was promoted much to the liking of the fans and he didn’t disappoint them this time around. He got a decent look in for the first time in three matches and should do a world of good for his confidence.

It goes without saying that Team India won the game by seven wickets and started the Super Four stage on a winning note. Now the memes during the match have become a norm these days and Bangladesh team was at the receiving end this time.
