Australia bowler Kane Richardson priorities Tests, marriage over Indian Premier League
The Aussie pacer opted out of the IPL due to his international cricketing commitments and his marriage.

The Indian Premier League has given a number of cricket stars to India as well as It has shaped future of a number of overseas players. It would take a lot of courage for a player to say no to the lucrative T20 league. But for Australia‘s Kane Richardson, who had earlier been part of the tournament thrice, the opportunity to play the whites for the national side is of greater importance than playing the IPL.
Apart from his ambition of playing the Test cricket, the 26-year-old revealed that he was actually getting married in the month of April later this year. “I’m actually getting married in April, a bit of pressure to stay at home this year,” Richardson said while talking to cricket.com.au.
He said that it is a very hard decision and not all can take such decision because the financial rewards are amazing in the IPL. According to Richardson, he has set a goal and wishes to play more Shield games. After playing almost 7 Shield game, Kane felt that his body will need a lot of rest. Having experienced IPL at the young age, the money he made in the earlier IPL has helped him take the decision. With age on his side, Richardson felt that he will hopefully get another opportunity to play the IPL later in his career.
Tests cricket the aim: Richardson
Richardson is currently playing for Australia in the T20 Tri-series that involves England and New Zealand felt that his chances of getting into the Australian Test side are still a long way but that is still the main goal.
Richardson was not sure If missing the IPL will help him get into the side but he advocated for the fact that the body needs a rest after playing a number of games. After the rest, the Melbourne Renegades player wishes to play more games in the domestic cricket.
