After a dismal performance in the Test series, England hit right back at Australia with a scintillating exhibition at the MCG in the first ODI. Jason Roy’s record-breaking knock propelled them to a stunning run chase, which really added life to this series. Everyone’s money was on Australia to run away with the series, but now, it just got very interesting.

The Gabba will play host to this cracker of a contest between the archrivals. The first game well and truly served the whole purpose of this epic series and this one definitely will follow the suit. Whilst the delirious hosts aim for a turnaround to complete a perfect round up of the tour, the visitors will be aiming to salvage some pride after that horrendous Ashes defeat.

Playing Combinations

Australia

David Warner and Aaron Finch will be opening the innings for the Aussies, with skipper Steve Smith coming in at 3. Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis will be forming the middle order. Alex Carey has been roped in as a back up for Tim Paine, but the latter will probably be fit for the game.

Mitchell Starc will be leading the lines as always, with young pacer Jhye Richardson. Another fine talent in the side is Andrew Tye, who recently expressed his hunger to perform well in the Gabba ODI after a dismal first game. Adam Zampa, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitch Marsh are the other options for Smith.

Probable XI: David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith (c), Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, Tim Paine/Alex Carey (wk), Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa

England

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will be opening the batting for England, with Alex Hales once again coming in at three. Joe Root, skipper Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali will be crucial in the middle order. They have some excellent fast bowlers in Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett, who can also chip in with the bat if necessary. The other bowling options for Morgan are Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, and Mark Wood.

Probable XI: Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid

We believe Australia might just edge the Three Lions in this game.
