Brisbane witness almost a repeat of the 1st ODI at Perth except Australia finding a new way to dismiss Rohit Sharma and the home sides’ openers laying the platform. After winning the toss, India decided to bat again. Rohit-Kohli partnership came to rescue after an early wicket; what followed was another big stand between Rohit and Rahane. Rohit scored his successive century in the series before he got out due to a deflection off bowlers’ hand in follow through.

India posted 308 for loss of 8 wickets, 1 run less than in the 1st ODI. Australian openers Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch gave their side a brilliant start thanks to some let downs by the Indian fielders. Later George Bailey, along with captain Smith and Glenn Maxwell helped their side to complete a 7-wicket win with an over to spare. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during game.

50 – Loss percentage of Rohit Sharma’s ODI centuries is 50, jointly the highest along with Marcus Trescothick whose 6 ODI centuries went in vein out of 12.

21 – Innings taken by Rohit Sharma to score 5 centuries in ODIs against Australia. He is the fastest to score 5 ODI centuries against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar and Desmon Haynes are only other players to score 5 ODI tons vs Australia. They took 21 innings and 28 innings respectively.

2 – Rohit Sharma became only the 3rd player in history to score centuries in consecutive ODI innings against Australia in Australia. England’s Graeme Hick in 1999 and India’s VVS Laxman in 2004 have scored centuries in consecutive ODI innings against Australia in Australia.

2010 – Rohit Sharma’s streak of converting ODI centuries to 135+ scores came to an end. Last time he got out without converting his ODI century into 135+ was in 2010, during his maiden ODI century.

2 – Rohit became only the 2nd Indian to score consecutive centuries on two occasions. Virat Kohli did it on 3 different occasions.

4 – Rohit’s 124 was his 4th century on Australian soil in ODIs. Only Kumar Sangakkara with 5 centuries has scored more ODI centuries than Rohit in Australia.

308/8 – India’s total is the highest ODI total at Brisbane among the visiting teams.

22 – Rohit Sharma has hit 22 ODI sixes in Australia so far. Only 3 visiting batsmen have hit more than sixes than Rohit.

295 – Rohit has scored 295 runs in this series so far. Only Jonathan Trott (375) and Shane Watson (306) have scored more runs in a bilateral ODI series in Australia.

111.25 – Ajinkya Rahane’s strike rate of 111.25 is the 2nd best strike rate in a 75+ scored innings for an Indian in Australia vs Australia. Yuvraj Singh’s 113.93 during his knock of 139 in 2004 is still the highest.

125 – 125-run stand between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is their 8th stand of 125 in ODIs. Only Sachin-Ganguly pair with 18 partnerships has more 125+ stands than Rohit-Kohli pair.

2000 – Ajinkya Rahane completed 2000 runs in ODI format. He took 63 innings for the milestone.
