Australia vs India: Excited Rishabh Pant receives absolutely no support from the slip cordon for DRS

Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is certainly an excited cricketer. One can always see the Indian keeper-batsman continuously indulging in some sort of chatter when he is standing behind the wickets. He is a lively and energetic character in the field.

In the ongoing fourth Test between India and Australia, Rishabh Pant got really animated in the 84th over of the innings. T. Natarajan bowled a length delivery that pitched and went away, and Cameron Green almost poked at it. Rishabh Pant seemed excited behind the stumps, but not even a single member from the slip cordon even gave the keeper support.

Pant was even seen going and literally begging skipper Ajinkya Rahane to go upstairs, but Rahane smiled and declined to do so. Opener Rohit Sharma was also seen having a laugh regarding Rishabh Pant’s animated appeal.

Labuschagne’s century allows Australia to go past 250

The Australian first innings was all about Marnus Labuschagne. The right-handed batting sensation scored his first century of the series and the year as well. The No.3 batsman helped himself to 108, as Australia ended Day 1 with the scoreboard reading 274/5. Matthew Wade and Steve Smith also made crucial contributions with the willow for the hosts as well.

The duo of Cameron Green and skipper Tim Paine is currently occupying the crease, and are involved in a crucial unbeaten stand of 61 runs for the sixth wicket. As far as India are concerned, the pick of the bowlers at the end of Day 1 was T. Natarajan.

The left-arm seamer, who is making his debut, scalped the crucial wickets of Labuschagne and Wade, to help India come back into the game. It looked like Australia would run away with the day’s honors, with Labuschagne and Wade involved in a stand of 113 runs for the fourth wicket. But, Natarajan scalped both the batsmen in the space of just two overs to allow India to claw back into the game.

The Border-Gavaskar series is currently locked at 1-1. While the first Test was won by Australia by 8 wickets, India returned the favor in the second rubber at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The third Test at Sydney ended in a pulsating draw, with India managing to bat out as many as 131 overs. The winner of the fourth Test match at The Gabba will win the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
