India tour of Australia is all set to commence with the T20 internationals tomorrow. However, there is more buzz for the contest in the longer format as the four-match Test series starts after the T20Is. India haven’t won a single Test in the previous two tours and are yet to win a Test series in Australia. With the Baggy Greens missing a couple of their key players, India would be looking to end the jinx down under.

While Team India plays the shortest format, the Test specialists have already been called in to Australia. According to a BCCI official, batting coach Sanjay Bangar will spend time with the players and train there. The visitors are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations and would be looking forward to putting up a much better show of themselves in the last overseas tour of this Test season.

Test specialists will train with Bangar

With youngsters in both sides, the upcoming Test series promises to be competitive and intense. Bangar and a couple of other staff members are headed to Sydney to start the training. The players who will join them include experienced campaigners like Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay, Parthiv Patel as well as the young duo of Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari.

“Our batting coach Bangar has reached Sydney with one of our throwdown expert Nuwan and a logistics manager. The Test specialists have also arrived from New Zealand. They will train under Bangar ahead of the First-lass match on November 28. Both Prithvi and Hanuma are on their first tour of Australia. Till November 25, they would be training under Bangar along with Ajinkya Rahane, Murali Vijay and Parthiv Patel,” an official was quoted as saying by DNA.

Quality bowlers from NSW for the net session

Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be in action playing the limited-overs format. However, the likes of Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma will travel a few days later. The pacers were playing the Ranji Trophy, the Indian management wanted them to get as much practice. In the meantime, bowlers from New South Wales will help the Indian batsmen for net practice.

Ravi Shastri is there and with seniors like Virat and Rohit around, it’s only better that Sanjay helps the first timers with inputs about Australian conditions. With our second line of pacers in New Zealand and Ranji Trophy on, we felt that we shouldn’t pull out any bowler who are currently playing competitive matches. We have spoken to Cricket Australia and quality net bowlers from New South Wales will be provided,” the official added.
