Australia vs Pakistan: David Warner and Joe Burns play rock paper scissors before the start of play

The caravan of the Pakistan tour of Australia has now moved to the picturesque Adelaide Oval where both sides are involved in the Pink Ball Day-Night Test. This is the first time that Pakistan is locking horns against Australia at the Adelaide Oval since 1990. Australia swatted aside the visitors by an innings and five runs in the first Test and one of the major reasons behind it was the success of the newly formed opening pair of David Warner and Joe Burns. After bundling out Pakistan for 240 in the first innings, the Australian opening pair had racked a colossal first-wicket stand of 221 during which Warner scored 154 while Joe Burns narrowly missed out on a three-figure score. Warner had said after the first Test in Brisbane that the partnership may well be the start of a friendship between Burns and him. And we got to see an indication or glimpse of it when the duo was seen playing the game of rock paper scissors before going out to bat on the first day of the Pink Ball Test. This incident took place after Tim Paine won the toss and, on an overcast day, audaciously decided to bat first. “The wicket looks really good. There might be a bit of rain around and it will be interesting to see how the pink ball handles it with the wet outfield,” the Australia captain Paine said at the toss. Good old rock, nothing beats that! But, just as the Warner-Burns duo was about to pad up and walk out to open the innings, a slight drizzle caused a delay, one that saw them make the most of the opportunity and play rock papers scissors. Cricket Australia posted the video of Warner and Joe Burns being involved which they captioned as, “Good old rock, nothing beats that!” When the duo did get onto the field, Burns lasted just nine balls before he edges one off Shaheen Shah Afridi to give an easy catch to Rizwan. Warner, however, continued from where he had left at the Gabba and breezed his way to 45 not out before rain caused another delay to the proceedings.
