The Australian cricket team will travel to Pakistan for a full-fledged international series in the month of March this year. The kangaroos will play 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and a solitary T20I against Pakistan.

And now, Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has said that he was born in Pakistan and has experienced a lot of support whenever he plays in the sub-continent. Khawaja also added that he would like to go back to Pakistan and play there. He even termed touring Pakistan as ‘amazing’.

“I’ve always had great support in the subcontinent, Bangladesh, India, and particularly Pakistan where I was born. They were amazing even when I was there for the PSL. I would like to go back there and play. It is not that far away but it seems far. Even if I go there on tour, it will be amazing,” said Khawaja while speaking to Fox Cricket.

I don’t think there is a better way to give back to cricket than touring Pakistan: Usman Khawaja

Usman Khawaja also added that the Australian side can inspire an entire generation of cricketers by touring Pakistan, as the people of Pakistan have not seen the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner play there.

“I said to the guys, you can actually inspire a generation of cricketers who have never seen you play – never seen David Warner, Steve Smith, they see them on TV. You actually inspire a generation by just going back over there,” added Khawaja.

Khawaja also added that Australia can give back something to cricket by touring Pakistan and concluded by stating that the people in Pakistan have been deprived of cricket for a long time.

“I don’t think there is a better way to give back to the game than to tour a country like Pakistan who have been deprived for so long. So hopefully we will get over there not just for my sake but for Pakistan cricket and all those young boys and girls out there,” concluded Khawaja.
