The Decision Review System has been at the core of every controversy during this Test series. Steven Smith’s ‘Brain Fade’ caused a lot of storm on Twitter and is still doing rounds in the media. Smith was terribly trolled on twitter and the pundits were also doing the same.
However, this Test match it was Virat Kohli’s turn to take the trolls. He has been vigorously criticized by the Australian media from the start of the series. Talking about his form for the starters and then accusing him of false allegations against his counterpart Smith. This series has no shortage of news and drama.
The Indian skipper had to leave the field to on Day one of the third Test because of a shoulder injury. He was trying to stop a boundary which he did but was left clutching his shoulder afterward. The star batsman left the field in the 40th over and never came back.
The Australian media being as ruthless as their players, saw this as an opportunity. Steve Smith played an outstanding inning while Virat could do nothing as he was tied down with an injury. One of the Twitter handles of a famous Australian sports betting site took a dig at the Indian captain.
The tweet said that while one captain is struggling to lift his shoulder the other is constantly raising his for scoring centuries. The tweet from William Hill Aus read, “#INDvAUS Injury Update Virat Kohli (Shoulder – fielding incident) Steve Smith (Shoulder – repeatedly raising the bat for centuries)”
The Indian fans are the most passionate fans on this planet and they were not sitting quiet whilst Australian media kept on trolling the Indian captain. They were hit back hard by the Indian fans in return. Some stating Smith’s brain fade while some stating how fearless Kohli is and recalling his century he played wth nine stitches in his hand.
But there was this one tweet that stood out from all of them. It was a guy called Madhav Sharma who absolutely killed it with his tweet which was absolute fact.
He stated that Virat has scored 43 tons in his international career while smith has 27 and pointed out that Smith is 16 behind. The tweet read, “Kohli has ‘raised his bat’ 43 times in his international career so far. Whereas Smith has done 27 times, 16 BEHIND Kohli.”
