Imran Khan, the former Pakistani cricketer recently sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of the country. His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) defeated Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML) in the General Elections conducted on July 25. During the oath-taking ceremony on August 18, a number of eminent personalities including Navjot Singh Sidhu graced their presence.
The former Indian batsman was the only Indian to attend the ceremony. Earlier, other former cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev declined the invitation to travel to the nation. Faisal Javed Khan, the leader of Imran’s party, welcomed him to Islamabad. During the event, Sidhu talked about the significance of maintaining a cordial relationship between India and Pakistan.

He also heaped praises on Imran with his trademark ‘shayaris’ (poems). After attending the event, Sidhu was pelted with brickbats from every nook and corner of India. He was seen hugging Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Pakistan Army Chief General. Moreover, the 54-year-old sat beside Masood Khan, the President of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
His actions have spread like wildfire and lately, Bajrang Dal, a religious militant organisation, has announced a prize money of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who will behead Sidhu, the Punjab Cabinet Minister as per reports in www.newsx.com. The same came to the fore when a video of Bajrang Dal Agra District President Sanjay Jaat went viral on the social media.
The union expressed their displeasure over Sidhu sharing a hug with the army general. In the video, Jaat mentioned about beheading Sidhu. He compared Sidhu to a traitor and termed the act as unpardonable. Jaat also claimed that Sidhu has forgotten the teachings of Sikh Guru Govind Singh. Moreover, he said that the act has hurt the sentiments of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
