Bangladesh announce squad for T20I series against South Africa

The Bangladesh selectors announced their lineup for the two-match T20 International series against South Africa. Commencing from the 26th October, there were some interesting inclusions with the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Mustafizur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain to miss out owing to injuries.

All the members of the squad have been part of the ongoing One Day International series. Of the new inclusions, the quickster duo of Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam. Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das has also been recalled to the T20 side alongside Mominul Haque.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo, “Mominul has replaced Tamim. He was with Test and ODI squad, so he got used to the experience playing here(in South Africa). Rubel already has got the experience and Nasir(Hossain) as we needed a batting allrounder.”

Bangladesh look to make amends in T20Is

After a poor performance in the Test series and conceding an unassailable lead in the One Dayers, Bangladesh would be looking to make amends in the T20I series. Boasting of good all-rounders in the side, the visitors would be hoping to make some mark in the shortest format. The Proteas have so far not only defeated the visitors but also managed to come out as a dominant force.

This is Bangladesh’ first International series after the retirement of Mashrafe Mortaza. Hence, Shakib Al Hasan is expected to start new innings as the T20I captain. Bangladesh now have three different skippers in 3 formats, with Mushfiqur Rahim handling affairs at the Test level and Mashrafe Mortaza at the helm in the One Day International scheme of things.
