Windies’ Bangladesh tour is in its concluding stage and all the visitors have managed is a solitary win. It also came on the back of a special knock from Shai Hope. The first of the three-match T20I series begins on Monday and with it comes a ray of hope for the Caribbean side who generally favour playing the shortest format of the game. Having said that, not everything has gone well for them in the T20Is well of late and are coming off a series whitewash at the hands of India.

Bangladesh were clinical in the deciding ODI and would be looking to grab the T20I trophy now. Though they know that this is where the Windies are the specialists and can hit hard if taken lightly. With not much to gain with this series as the T20 World Cup is still a fair way away, the home side might look to give chance to the youngsters in every game. However, winning the game will be the first and foremost priority for the Tigers.

Team Combinations

Bangladesh

Tamim Iqbal makes a comeback at the top of the order as he will open with Liton Das with Soumya Sarkar coming in at number 3. The experienced trio of Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah follow next while the youngster and all-rounder Ariful Haque is tipped to put the finishing touches to the innings. Saifuddin, Abu Hider and Mustafizur are the three pacers with Mehidy Hasan and Shakib looking after the spin-bowling department.

Probable XI: Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Shakib Al Hasan (C), Mahmudullah, Ariful Haque, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Abu Hider Rony, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman.

Windies

Windies have got a big boost for this series as Evin Lewis made himself available while the in-form Shai Hope will open the innings with him. Shimron Hetmyer will bat at three in this format with Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell looking to take the attack to the opposition. The spin duo of Fabian Allen and Khary Pierre are tough to get away with while the pace of Oshane Thomas is bound to trouble the batsmen.

Kesrick Williams has a bag of tricks in his pocket and the skipper Carlos Brathwaite is also capable of playing a crucial role in both the departments.

Probable XI: Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Rovman Powell, Nicholas Pooran, Carlos Brathwaite (C), Fabian Allen, Khary Pierre, Oshane Thomas, Kesrick Williams.

Focus will be on

Liton Das (Bangladesh)

Never mind the format, Liton Das will be under pressure to perform. The ODI series wasn’t so fruitful for him and should be looking to make the most of this opportunity. He will have the aggressive Tamim to open the innings and can afford to play the second fiddle. He has a chance to hold one end up and let the others play around him. Though he can also play aggressively and showed the shades of the same during the Asia Cup final against India.

Evin Lewis (Windies)

Evin Lewis is playing after a long time and will be expected to make an impact straight away. He stayed away from the series against India and ODIs against Bangladesh and will be raring to go now. If he gets going early in the innings, the Tigers will get in trouble as the likes of Hetmyer and Pooran follow next. The onus though will be on Lewis to give the team a perfect start.
