Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 2nd T20I Preview: Zimbabwe will look to end their devastating series on a high note: Bangladesh are looking dominating this season with back to back series wins and victories against big names in the cricketing field. Zimbabwe after losing out strong players like Hamilton Masakadza and Brendan Taylor are digging up their own grave and losing out in the game. The Zimbabwean team didn’t look confident even though they’ve strong players till the last match where they came close but yet were far from victory. Zimbabwe will look to end their devastating series on a high note and level the series 1-1 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka when both the teams lock horns tomorrow.
Let’s take a look on how the teams fare before tomorrow’s match.
Bangladesh:
Bangladesh are a very strong team with players dominating in all departments of the game. But sadly for their fans, in the first T20I Zimbabwe had removed their top order and if not for Mashrafe Mortaza and Mahmudullah in the lower batting order, they would’ve lost the match to the visitors.
They bowled really well until they slightly let it slip away in the middle before they came back with great death bowling.
Mustafizur Rahman is their trump card in the bowling unit, and if he gets going, there’s no stopping him and will trouble batsmen of all sorts. Mashrafe Mortaza, Al-Amin Hossain, Nasir Hossain and Mahmudullah with Mustafizur have supported each other really well and have picked up wickets at regular intervals and bowling in tight lines. Even Jubair Hossain had a memorable debut with him picking up two wickets. Probably the skipper can give chance to Kamrul Islam Rabbi who has warmed the benches and is urging to get into the thick of action on the field. Hopefully, he’ll get a chance to debut and try to capitalize it for the Bangla tigers.
The odds of them winning the series are great and until they foolishly lose out by being overconfident they can win this series 2-0 and end this year on a high.
Zimbabwe:
For the first time in this series, we saw ‘Team Zimbabwe’ playing well in an attempt to win the first T20 encounter between the sides. Led by Malcolm Waller’s amazing innings they set a defendable target of 132 on a pitch like of the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The bowlers including Craig Ervine and Chisoro delivered for the team in the beginning and gave chills for the Bangladeshi camp. But a mediocre death bowling gave away the match to the Bangladeshis.
Elton Chigumbura’s rare failure shouldn’t disappoint Zimbabwe as he’ll come back and come back strong. The only changes he should make in his captaincy are effective field placement and bowling changes and not allow the Bangladesh batsmen to settle and fight to win the game.
Last 5 Encounters:
Bangladesh: WLLWL
Zimbabwe: LLLLL
Pitch:
The dew factor will play an important role that’s why winning the toss will become all the more important. The Dhaka pitch is rather faster than other sub-continent pitches. The pitch is assisting spin and both the teams will enjoy bowling on the pitch.
Stats:
204/5: Highest total posted in this stadium. It was scored by New Zealand playing against Bangladesh in 2013.
1: One more dismissal will give Mushfiqur Rahim a career with 40 dismissals behind the stump. He is the most successful wicket keeper for Bangladesh in T20s
5: If Bangladesh win the this match, this’ll become their 5th ever T20I series win and add to their credentials
20: Number of wickets picked up by Cremer. It’s the second highest tally of wickets taken by Zimbabweans in T20I.
