In what has turned out to be a disastrous campaign for the Sydney Sixers, they lost all their five games and are at the bottom of the table. No one expected a side of their caliber to perform this way and it really is hard to break down the reasons behind their downfall. This is the first time in their club history they lost all of their first five games.

Hobart Hurricanes have suffered a similar fate this time around. Unlike the Sixers, they grabbed a couple of wins here and there, but their form hasn’t been appreciable as well. They managed to end Adelaide Strikers‘ unbeaten run in their previous game, thanks to a spectacular knock from D’Arcy Short. They’ll be keen to continue the momentum and jump up the ladder.

Hobart and Sydney currently occupy the 6th and 7th spots respectively and only Melbourne Stars are beneath them. Whilst nothing is going on in one camp, the other one just found some rejuvenation. This game might as well decide the fate of both these sides and a victory can do a world of good for both of them.

Playing Combinations

Hobart Hurricanes

D’Arcy Short and Alex Doolan will be opening the innings, with some decent names in the middle like George Bailey, Ben McDermott, and Matthew Wade. They are blessed to have two talented all-rounders in Jofra Archer and Dan Christian. Clive Rose and Cameron Boyce are the two spinners who have been performing well for the Hurricanes. Tymall Mills and Jofra Archer will be their key seam bowlers.

Sydney Sixers

Jason Roy and Peter Nevill will be opening the innings for the Sixers, with some explosive players like Nic Maddinson, Sam Billings, and Jordan Silk coming in the middle order. Sean Abbott and Johan Botha will be the all-rounders for the Sixers. Ben Dwarshuis and Mickey Edwards will be opening the bowling attack, with some other decent names in the lineup like Daniel Sams, William Somerville, Botha, and Abbott available.

Focus will be on

Jofra Archer (Hobart Hurricanes)

Whilst D’Arcy Short hogged all the limelight with a scintillating knock, Jofra Archer’s effort went unnoticed. In a high scoring game, he registered figures of 3/15 in four overs, which is jusr spectacular. The Caribbean all-rounder has been doing a terrific job for the Hurricanes and is continuing his good form from the BPL.

Nic Maddinson (Sydney Sixers)

A very exciting prospect of the game, Nic Maddinson has been under performing these days. The southpaw entered the big stage with some stellar performances, but slowly succumbed to the pressure of attention. He still keeps scoring big at times, but is lacking consistency at the moment. Given he manages to spank a few big ones, the Sixers can post a big total on board.

StatAttack

1 – With 242 runs, D’Arcy Short is the highest run-scorer thus far in the tournament. He also leads the charts in terms of number of fours (24) and sixes (10) thus far in the tournament.
