Fortunes have shifted sides this time around, with Melbourne Renegades finding themselves in a much better position than their Saturday’s opponents Sydney Sixers. This usually isn’t a sight BBL has witnessed many times as the Sixers have consistently been at the top of the pile.
They have lost two of their first three games thus far and are 7th on the table with only Brisbane Heat underneath them. Moises Henriques and his side have not been up to the mark with most of their big names underperforming. They don’t have a marquee name in the side, which probably is costing them big time.
Mohammad Nabi’s form has been a huge bonus for the Renegades, who are riding high on the table. Daniel Christian has been in good form too, with experienced campaigners Cameron White and Kane Richardson doing their bits perfectly. They will be keen to continue this form and lift their first title.
Pitch and weather
Some heavy showers are predicted for Saturday in Melbourne and the chances of the game continuing without interruptions are slightly grim. The Docklands Stadium provided a track which was a nightmare for the batsmen last time, something similar, but a little better version is expected for this game.
Playing Combinations
Melbourne Renegades
Sam Harper and Time Ludeman will open the innings with two veteran cricketers Cameron White and Tom Cooper coming in at number 3 and 4. Their main men in the batting order once again will be Mohammad Nabi, who will be accompanied by Christian and Wildermuth. Cameron Boyce will be Nabi’s spin bowling partner with Richardson and Usman Khan leading the fast bowling department.
Predicted XI: Sam Harper, Tim Ludeman (wk), Cameron White, Tom Cooper (C), Mohammad Nabi, Daniel Christian, Jack Wildermuth, Cameron Boyce, Kane Richardson, Usman Khan, Beau Webster
Sydney Sixers
English veteran Joe Denly needs to fire big time and he’ll be opening with Jack Edwards. Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk and Josh Philippe need to get among the runs more consistently to pack a punch. Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis have been performing pretty well with the ball and Tom Curran too has been a great addition. Lloyd Pope and Steve O’Keefe are the other bowling options for Henriques.
Predicted XI: Jack Edwards, Joe Denly, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques(c), Jordan Silk, Josh Philippe(w), Tom Curran, Sean Abbott, Steve OKeefe, Ben Dwarshuis, Lloyd Pope
