Hobart Hurricanes will host the Sydney Sixers at the Bellerive Oval in the match 19 of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) Friday. They are unbeaten in the tournament so far after playing four matches and no wonder are sitting pretty at the table while the Sixers are also not behind with three wins in five games. It will take a herculean effort for the visitors to stop Hurricanes’ winning run.

Having said that, the side led by Moises Henriques has shrugged off the poor start to the season and registered two wins on the trot. A hat-trick of victories will take them to the second position in the table and that motivation must be enough for the players to give their best. An unchanged 13-man squad is a testament to the confidence shown by the management on them.

Hurricanes have been clinical in chases so far and they would just love to continue the trend. While their bowling attack restricted the Scorchers to 107 in the previous game, the batsmen gunned down the total in excess of 190 before that against the Sixers. If both the departments perform together, they can give a nightmare to any team and that is what the skipper Matthew Wade will be hoping for.

Pitch and Conditions

This is the third game at the Bellerive Oval this season and both the previous matches saw the chasing team win comfortably. The trend will continue in this game as well and expect the captains to field first on winning the toss. The whole day in Hobart will be extremely hot and things will get cooler in the evening during the match with the temperatures hovering in the higher 20s.

There is no need for them to change the winning line-up. D’Arcy Short has been perfectly doing the job of an all-rounder for them while the skipper Wade is in the form of his life it seems scoring runs at will. The likes of Alex Doolan, Ben McDermott and George Bailey are also in good touch playing crucial roles in each of the games.

The five specialist bowlers are also doing well for them with James Faulkner taking the new ball and then Clive Rose, Riley Meredith and Jofra Archer wreaking havoc in the opposition camp.

Sydney Sixers

The Sixers have struggled with their opening combination and will hope that Joe Denly comes to the party at some point in the season. Jack Edwards might come in place of him while the inclusion of Justin Avendano worked for them. More than anything, the skipper Henriques’ return in form must have delighted the Sixers and with Jordan Silk also in great touch, they have the ability to take down any team.

Tom Curran has been the star so far with both bat and ball and is expected to do well again while Ben Dwarshius and Steve O’Keefe have done enough. Ben Menenti was the surprise package in the previous game and should retain his place.
