History will repeat itself when the Adelaide Strikers take on Hobart Hurricanes in Adelaide on Monday. It is these two teams who competed against each other for the crown in the final of BBL 07. The Strikers were the successful team back then as they managed a 25-run win to clinch their maiden title. However, one year down the line, things have changed drastically.

With four wins and four losses, the home team is battling for a place in the top-four. They are currently placed fifth on the points table with eight points. On the other hand, the Hobart Hurricanes have been a dominant team at disposal this season. With seven wins in eight matches, they’ve almost sealed a spot in the semi-final. It will be interesting to see if they’ll be able to break the jinx of not being able to win at the Adelaide Oval since 2011.

Match Details

The 37th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2018-19 will be played between the Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes at the Adelaide Oval.

The match starts at 6:45 PM local time (8:15 AM GMT) (1:45 PM IST).

The game will be live on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD in India. Live streaming is available on Sony Liv.

Pitch Condition/Report

It has been the best surface for the batsmen this season. The short square boundaries help the chasing teams. Also, the track assists slightly more to the batsmen in the second innings. Though, it is important for them to spend some time in the middle before they yield the big shots. The track also helps the bowlers a fair bit when they hit the right areas. The Australia-India ODI last week was easily the best batting surface India played on the whole tour.

Average first innings score: 169 (Four matches this season)

Chasing teams’ record: Won – 2, Lost – 2 (Four matches this season)

Power Picks

Ridley Meredith is Hurricanes’ joint highest wicket-taker this season with 13 wickets to his name. He picked two or more wickets in four out of the eight matches and could be your power pick. The pacer consistently bowls over 140 clicks and has got some good variations in his armour.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

With 368 runs in 8 games at an average of about 53, D’Arcy Short has been in tremendous form in BBL 08. He is a must as captain or at least vice-captain in your team. If Short is the captain of your fantasy team, either of James Faulkner or Rashid Khan can be picked as the vice-captain. But, if you prefer choosing Colin Ingram instead, then Short should be the vice-captain.

Expert Advice:

Matthew Short has scored 40 runs in last six matches and bowled only once. Botha, Faulkner and Neser are far better picks from all-rounders category than Short. You can go for Alex Carey in the team for the Mega Leagues as well. But, you’ll have to sacrifice with some other player as Carey needs 10 credits.

Probable Winners:

The Hobart Hurricanes are expected to win the match.
