India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series five years ago in 2012. India lost the three-match One-Day International series 2-1 to the Pakistanis. Since then they have faced their neighbors only in the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments.

Pakistan were to host India in Dubai in three years ago in 2014 but there was a passionate protest from Shiv Sena which led to the cancellation of the tour. Pakistan, however, wants to play against their arch-rivals India but after breaking the cease-fire agreement which killed many of the Indian soldiers on the border it seemed highly unlikely.

However, as things stand for now, according to India Today, BCCI have proposed a full tour and are seeking a permit from the central government. The permission letter has been sent to the Home Minister a month and a half ago but the Indian government is still thinking about it.

The matches, if agreed, will take place in Dubai as Pakistan have not been visited by any team since the terrorists attacked the Sri Lankan cricket team in March of 2009. The attack was so fierce that it injured six Sri Lankan players and an English Coach.

The full series has only been proposed and the protests against it have already begun. Shiv Sena workers stormed into the BCCI office after the news went viral. There is no doubt the protests will be strong and the tour will be anything but smooth. The cricket fans will absolutely love it, though.

India and Pakistan games are due as both teams are capable while the India team coming out of a strong home season and becoming the World number one Test team Pakistan are fighting the internal crisis. BCCI has proposed a full tour consisting three Test matches, five ODIs, and two Twenty20 internationals.

Every cricket fan will be hoping for this to go down positively but before that India will play Pakistan on 4th of June in Birmingham in the ICC Champions Trophy as India will look to defend it while Pakistan will look to go beyond the Semis for the first time in their history.
