English batsman Ben Duckett has recently been reprimanded for breaching the code of conduct of the English side. Duckett, who is currently a part of the England Lions side, will not play the remaining fixtures of the series against Australia this season. He has received the final warning from the board for his misconduct.

In addition to the suspension, Ben Duckett has also been heavily fined. As per the recent reports in ESPNcricinfo, Duckett was all set to play in the England XI side in the match at Perth. However, his act in a bar cost him his position in the side. He had reportedly poured a drink over pacer James Anderson in a bar in the wee hours of the recent Friday.

The board has now announced Joe Clarke to replace Duckett in the England XI now. The news is certainly not good for the English coach. In the recent times, the England team has been severely hurt due to similar alcohol-related episodes. Things had started getting grim ever since star all-rounder Ben Stokes was allegedly involved in a pub brawl at Bristol in September this year.

The pub fiasco cost him a place in the English side for the coveted Ashes. Soon, another alcohol-related episode struck the English team when their batsman Jonny Bairstow was seen head-butting the Australian cricketer Cameron Bancroft at a bar.

Curfew and the aftermath

Following these scenes, the ECB Director, Andrew Strauss, had announced the curfew hours for the England players citing the irresponsible behavior of the players. However, English team head coach Trevor Bayliss termed these incidents as ‘trivial’. But, going by the look of things, the recent Ben Duckett incident only makes it clear that the English players get too much carried away under the influence of alcohol. They surely need to have a little more control on their senses.
