England all-rounder Ben Stokes may well find himself behind bars should he be found driving before the 14th of December this year. Having been injured and ruled out of the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, Ben Stokes celebrated the England series win by going out for a spin in his car on the streets of London.

Driving at an enormously high speed, Stokes was caught speeding on almost four occasions by the London Police. The latter subsequently handed him with a 6-month ban from driving. Should he not honor this agreement, Stokes will be imprisoned.

The year 2016 has seen Stokes establish himself as an enigmatic player for the England cricket team. He has been the beneficiary of the fastest Test double century, a feat he accomplished against South Africa while the Brits were on tour. The other extreme saw Stokes smashed for four sixes in the final over of the World T20 by Carlos Brathwaite as the Windies snatched the World T20 title from England.

Stokes pleaded guilty to the charge of over speeding and was subsequently fined £830 by magistrate Anna Ramsden and it he is found driving before December 14, he might be jailed. Stokes also pleaded guilty to driving at 61 miles per hour at the same place on August 26, at 12.19 pm. This was after the final Test in Ashes 2015. The report added that two charges of not providing police with the identity were dropped after the cricketer admitted his offences.

Stokes’ counsel Laura Nash said, “He is at a loss as to how there is an endorsement on the same date. He also faces the embarrassment of having to declare the disqualification to his employers, Durham and the ECB (England Cricket Board). He is very much aware that this sends out the wrong message, that a professional sportsman has been captured speeding on four separate occasions.”
