England all-rounder Ben Stokes will miss the one-off One-Day International against Scotland which will be played in Edinburgh on June 10. He also missed the ongoing second Test against Pakistan at Headingley in Leeds due to the hamstring injury he sustained while training ahead of the game. However, he is also set to miss the first part of the five-match ODI series against Australia.

The absence of Stokes is a huge blow to England as he is the vital part of the team and would’ve made a huge difference against the arch-rivals Australia. Now, it is expected that he will be fit for the third or fourth match of the five-match series. England is also scheduled to play T20I series against India in July which will be followed by 3 ODIs and 5 Tests and the selectors will be hoping that the all-rounder gets fit in time for the crucial clash. Meanwhile, Stokes will miss the second Test against India at Lord’s as he has to appear in the court for the trial.

Malan to replace Stokes

According to the reports in Evening Standard, Dawid Malan will replace Stokes for the ODI against Scotland while Sam Billings has been drafted into the squad for the series against Australia. The latter is interestingly named as the deputy to Eoin Morgan for the one-off game and will be itching to do well. Malan, on the other hand, is yet to make a debut in the limited overs format of the game and it remains to be seen if he will get an opportunity in the middle-order to showcase his skills.

The ODI tussle against the Aussies will begin at the Kennington Oval in London and the tour will end with a one-off T20 International on June 27 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
