In a very unfortunate and unwanted incident, two young cricketers from Bengal were recently seen involved in a brawl with the security officials. One among the two cricketers has been identified as Debapriya Ghosh. Debapriya is one of the senior cricketers who is currently in the senior Bengal Probables camp. He is a talented young batsman who plays for the Town Club in the city leagues.

The other player, whose identity is yet to be revealed, is a player in the U23 side. As per the reports in The Telegraph, both players were involved in the drunken brawl with the security officials of the Eden Gardens on the Friday night. Apparently, the U23 cricketer tried to force his way into the stadium in the wee hours of the Friday night. He was in a drunken state and tried to enter the dormitory.

The security officials tried to stop them. When the situation looked out of control, the security guard tried to call the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials to the venue. This, apparently, did not go down well with the other cricketer – Debapriya Ghosh.

‘Indiscipline will not be tolerated’

Reportedly, he went to the extent of showing his bat to the security guard hinting that he would hit him. Soon, some other cricketers came in to pacify the infuriated youngsters. Ghosh was not seen at the practice sessions on the following day on Saturday. It remains to be seen if the CAB takes any action against the two cricketers. One of the CAB officials remarked that indiscipline will not be tolerated.

“It has never happened on the Eden premises before. We have asked both the players to leave the dormitory. Indiscipline of any kind cannot be tolerated and both have been asked to explain. This is just not cricket,” CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya remarked.
