Best XI of the Bangladesh Premier League 3: Comilla Victorians were crowned as the champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season 3 after they successfully chased down the target set by Barisal Bulls in the thrilling final. Just like every T20 Leagues, there have been players who have been successful while some failed to live up to the expectations. In the BPL 3 XI, at least, one player from each team except Sylhet Super Stars has managed to make a place in this team. Sri Lanka legend and the top run-getter of this tournament, Kumar Sangakarra is the leader of this team. However, the only thing that worked for them in a positive manner was their openers, especially Tamim Iqbal. Iqbal has five 30+ scores which include three half centuries. He has been quite dominating with the bat. His unbeaten 67 against Sylhet Super Stars is his most memorable performance this season. He started the tournament on a bad note but slowly picked up himself and struck 312 runs in 12 matches including a half century in the finals. Kayes also played a vital part in the first qualifier match against Rangpur Riders where he hit an important 67 off just 48 balls. Kumara Sangakkara – Captain/wicketkeeper (Dhaka Dynamites): Kumar Sangakkara. (Photo Source: BCB) Kumar Sangakkara is the most appropriate person to lead the side. Apart from his leadership skills, Sanga was also in sublime form with his bat and ended up as the tournament’s highest run scorer. He amassed 349 runs in 10 matches at an average of 38.77 and is his way ahead of his competitors. Riyad Mahmudullah (Barisal Bulls): Mahmudullah Riyad. (Photo Source: Dhaka Tribune) The Barisal Bulls captain justified his role completely. Mahmudullah has rescued his team out of sticky situations couple of times in the tournament so far. He has been the backbone of the Barisal Bulls side with 279 runs in 13 matches playing in the middle order. If the need arises he can also roll in some over and keep the run rate in check. Sabbir Rahman (Barisal Bulls): Sabbir Rahman. (Photo Source: AFP) Sabbir Rahman has been a very versatile option for the Bulls throughout this season. He has batted from number three at the top to number six in the lower middle order and has managed to be efficient overall. Rahman did not get much of an opportunity to bat, but he struck form in the final stages of the tournament. In all, he managed 189 runs in 10 innings. His best knock of the tournament came at the most appropriate time where he hit a match-winning knock of 79 runs in the second qualifier match against Rangpur Riders. Sabbir perfectly suits the role of the number five batsman in the line-up. Ashar Zaidi (Comilla Victorians): Ashar Zaidi has been the X-factor for the Comilla Victorians. The strong Pakistani all-rounder has delivered almost regularly as a middle and late-order big-hitter and a wicket taking bowling option. He plays smartly, especially while setting up a chase from a troublesome situation. Zaidi has 215 runs and 12 wickets in 11 matches. He was also named as the Player of the tournament. Without any doubt, Zaidi has been the best all-rounder of this season. Jahurul Islam (Rangpur Riders): Jahurul Islam. Even though he was little inconsistent sometimes, the ‘versatile’ Jahurul has managed a couple of good knocks in the tournament and has played crucial roles while his team was chasing targets. Shakib has not disappointed at all, but he could have been more impactful, especially with the bat. He has taken 18 wickets and has scored 136 runs in 11 matches before his team got knocked out of the tournament in the second qualifier. No matter what, Shakib still had pretty good figures in comparison to other all-rounders in this tournament and is the perfect choice in this team for the role of a proper all-rounder. Kevon Cooper (Barisal Bulls): Kevon Cooper. (Photo Source: BCB) Kevon Cooper has a bucket full of wickets to his name and ended the league as the leading wicket-taker. If there has been any bowler who has been a consistent wicket-taker in this tournament then it is him. Figures of 22 wickets in just eight matches are highly impressive. His best bowling performance came against Rangpur Riders where he single-handedly skittled them with a mind blowing match figures of 5/15. Undoubtedly, Cooper is the best choice as a death over specialist in the team. Mohammad Amir (Chittagong Vikings): Mohammad Amir. It was the first major tournament he played after his return to international cricket and he did not disappoint at all. Nothing has changed in his bowling. Amir bowled with pace and swung the ball like he used to. His yorkers are still sharp. 16 wickets in 9 matches may look less than extraordinary, but his effectiveness is still the same. Abu Hider (Comilla Victorians): Abu Hider. (Photo Source: BCB) Abu Hider is the best strike bowler Comilla Victorians have in their line-up. He makes his way into this team. Hider is the second highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 21 scalps to his name. The left-arm pacer is truly a revelation of this T20 league.
