The cricket governing body in Bihar is all set to get recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Currently, the Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) is an unrecognized body that takes care of the game in the state. This year, Bihar is likely to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Ahead of the tournament, Aditya Verma, one of the key administrators of CAB, finds himself in a troubled situation.

Aditya Verma is one of the key members who have been fighting for the inclusion of Bihar on the domestic roster yet again. However, it is worth noting that if Bihar cricket body takes shape, then the ambitions of his son Lakhan Raja could be on shaky grounds.

As per the recent Lodha recommendations, if Lakhan Raja gets eligible to play for Bihar, then it will be a conflict of interest for his father, Aditya Verma. In this case, either Lakhan or Aditya will have to recuse from their ambitions or roles. Recently, as per the quotes in The Indian Express, Aditya Verma noted that he is ready to recuse from administration if his son gets selected to play for Bihar.

“I know that there could be an issue of conflict of interest if my son Lakhan Raja plays for Bihar. Obviously, if he is selected for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, I will recuse myself from cricket administration. However if he plays for a different state, I think I can continue as an official in my home state body,” Aditya Verma quoted.

Bowling in the CSK nets

Lakhan is a left handed batsman who bowlws off-spin as well. Recently, he was seen bowling in the Chennai Super Kings nets as well. Aditya Verma confirmed this news as well. “Dhoni bhai allowed him to bowl at the CSK nets,” Verma confirmed.

Bihar’s inclusion in domestic setup

It is only unfortunate to see Bihar still not being a part of the unified domestic cricket roster in the country. As per the Lodha ruling and the several rule changes of BCCI, Bihar should have participated in the domestic competition last year itself.

“As per January 4 ruling of Supreme Court, Bihar should have played in the last edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy but for BCCI’s obstinate attitude. But I am happy that the youngsters of Bihar, including my son, will finally get to play top level competitive cricket,” the administrator cited.
