BJP MP Udit Raj drags Vinod Kambli in caste based reservation controversy

BJP Member of Parliament from Delhi and a prominent Dalit face Udit Raj has provoked an unnecessary controversy by trying to link caste with a sportsman’s career saying former cricketer Vinod Kambli’s Dalit background was the reason for his failed career. In the past, Raj had alleged that there is discrimination in the selection process in BCCI. Raj tweeted, “Vinod Kambli you should not be shy of accepting that you are a Dalit and that was the reason of your exclusion from cricket”. @vinodkambli349 you should not be shy of accepting that u r a Dalit and that was the reason of ur exclusion from cricket @BCCI @AIParisangh — Dr. Udit Raj, MP (@Dr_Uditraj) December 27, 2016 Kambli, who has always been a straightforward character was least impressed with this sort of words and hit back, saying his caste had nothing to do with his career. Kambli tweeted, “Mr Raj i don’t support any of your statements. Some people even tagged the Prime Minister’s office to complain about the provocative comment. Another Twitter user raised the issue with the BCCI and PM Modi. The BJP MP has sought reservation in cricket for dalits. This demand obviously wasn’t entertained by the BJP and the BCCI also rubbished it completely. @Dr_Uditraj he @vinodkambli349 indulged in booze and womanizing while hence @BCCI booted him out. The flamboyant left-hander was a prodigy and gained public attention with the world record stand of 664 runs in the semi-finals of The Harris Shield Tournament, an inter-school competition way back in 1988. In incarnation at the international level came three years after Sachin Tendulkar’s started his Test career left-hander d off his domestic career with a six in the Ranji Trophy debut and later made himself famous for his flashy cuts and quick footwork against spinners. Unfortunately, indiscipline caused his downfall and played his last Test at the age of 24 and eventually retiring in the year 2000 after nine failed comeback attempts.
