Kane Williamson-led New Zealand side will look to put up a better performance and take positives from the final warm-up match against the Board President’s XI ahead of the 1st ODI against India, on October 22. The visitors were thrashed by a young dynamic Board President’s XI side in the first warm-up match. The likes of KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw and Karun Nair got the better of the Kiwis, as they had no answers to Karan Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem.

With the India spin-duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav set to spin their web, New Zealand will have their task cut out. Young sensation Prithvi Shaw didn’t look in any sort of discomfort against the strong New Zealand attack and the opener will look to continue his impressive run in the 2nd warm-up game too.

Boult credits the young Indian side

Even though the visitors struggled with the conditions early on, fast bowler Trent Boult credited the home side for putting up a good effort in the first game.”It’s seven or eight degrees back in New Zealand at the moment,” Boult said. “A bit of a shock for the system to come here. It’s a big challenge, but I think we were outplayed nicely by a quality Indian side today.”

“These [the warm-up games] are good opportunities to try out different tactics, in terms of a bowling plan, to come here and just try and bowl good lines and lengths against some of the best players in the world. It [bouncers] is probably not the best recipe to getting them out. I think they negated it nicely, played some very good shots. Probably today it wasn’t successful, but a lot of credit is due to their openers especially, they set a good platform for rest of the batting line-up to propel off.” he added.
