There have been some serious attempts by the bookies to put the element of spot-fixing in the third edition of PSL and try and manipulate the events on the field, but the PCB’s anti-corruption unit has been at its work properly and they have managed to nullify all such attempts.

The Daily Jang has reported that a bookie from Peshawar is in UAE at the moment and he is looking to get in touch with the players of various teams through different mediums like Whatsapp, Facebook etc. The PCB is well aware of it and they, on their part, have passed the information to all the players to make sure they immediately tell the officials about any sort of contact from any suspicious person on any platform.

Many believe that the bookies from the other countries are trying to destroy the reputation of the PSL and turn it into a scandalized product. PSL has been hit by spot-fixing controversies in the past as well with PCB identifying quite a few players last season who took money from the bookies to compromise their performances as per their wish.

Sharjeel and Sarfraz, two extremes of bookies approach

Those players were handed suspensions and one of the most prominent names out of them was the left-handed opener Sharjeel Khan who had been making huge strides in international cricket and was an established member of the Pakistan ODI and T20 side.

PCB definitely won’t want any more of their precious talents to come under the cloud of spot-fixing in future and to disappear from the scenes. The board has been keen on providing the right kind of education to the players in terms of how to carry themselves in such scenarios.

The Pakistani captain Sarfaraz Ahmed himself set an example last year when he immediately let the board know of a fixing approach made to him during the ODI series against Sri Lanka which Pakistan won by 5-0 and the young players would like to follow exactly that.
