BPL 2017, Match 9: Rangpur Riders v Rajshahi Kings - Result Predictions

The ninth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will feature the Rajshahi Kings (RK) and the Rangpur Riders (RR) in their second clash against each other in the fifth edition of the tournament. While the match will see two familiar sides face each other, the venue will undergo a change for this second set of matches. It’ll be the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka that’ll host the match this time around.

Coming into the match, Rajshahi Kings will be seeking redemption considering the 6-wicket defeat they had to face at the hands of the Rangpur Riders in their very first match. Further, Darren Sammy‘s side direly needs a win to rake up the first precious point on the ranking table. On the other hand, Rangpur Rider’s will be keen to brush off the defeat against the Chittagong Vikings and get back to winning ways.

Rajshahi Kings

Having lost both the matches they’ve played in the ongoing edition of the BPL, Sammy and his boys will be desperate for a win to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. Openers Luke Wright and Mominul Haque have shown promise in the previous matches and must convert their starts into something substantial. The middle-order formed by Rony Talukdar, Mushfiqur Rahim and Samit Patel will have to put their foot on the pedal and hit the big shots in order to give their team a shot at winning.

The captain can be expected to shoulder the all-rounding responsibilities, along with James Franklin. Pacers Farhad Reza, Kesrick Williams and Hossain Ali accompanied by the off-break bowler, Mehidy Hasan will have to execute their team’s bowling plans to perfection.

The opening attack led by Johnson Charles and Ziaur Rahman, followed by the remaining batting power in Mohammad Mithun, Ravi Bopara, Shahriar Nafees and Samiullah Shenwari will be looking to hit runs no matter which innings they bat in.

Thisara Perera can be expected to helm the pace department, supported by skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and Lasith Malinga. The spinners in the form of Nazmul Islam and Sohag Gazi can be expected to round off the team and go all guns blazing at the opposition.
