Rangpur Rangers haven’t made the best of starts in the Bangabandhu BPL by any stretch of the imagination. Mohammad Nabi and Co started with a 105-run defeat at the hands of Cumilla Warriors followed by the six-wicket loss to Chattogram Challengers. Their net run rate of -3.010 isn’t great either. The Rangers are again set to lock horns with the Warriors, this time in Chattogram.

A victory may just take them up from the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, the Warriors couldn’t carry their momentum from the match against the Rangers. Dhaka Platoon defeated them by 20 runs. Placed at number five, the Warriors will be looking to get into the top four at the earliest. Dasun Shanaka’s men will be fancying their chances versus a rusty Rangers.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Chattogram has helped the batsmen to a great extent and the bowlers can’t afford any sort of complacency. On a track, which may not change much during the course of a match, chasing won’t be a bad option by any means. The atmosphere will be bright and sunny throughout. The temperature will be around the 25 degrees Celsius mark with the humidity in the 40s and 50s.

Team Combination

Cumilla Warriors

The Warriors’ batting has put forth a collective effort thus far with a number of scores in the 20s, 30s and 40s. Skipper Shanaka scored a 31-ball 75 with nine sixes and that will keep him in good stead ahead of the next game. Dawid Malan and Soumya Sarkar have gotten decent starts thus far.

Sarkar has done a reasonable job with the ball, picking up four wickets. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Al Amin Hossain haven’t given away much either. Bhanuka Rajapaksha has a strike-rate of 176, but has to get amongst the runs. Sabbir Rahman is also someone, who can be devastating on his day.

Probable XI

Bhanuka Rajapaksha, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Soumya Sarkar, Dawid Malan, Sabbir Rahman, Dasun Shanaka (C), Mahidul Islam Ankon (wk), Abu Hider Rony, Sunzamul Islam, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Al Amin Hossain

Rangpur Rangers

There’s mot much to talk about the Rangers’ batting. Mohammad Naim got 78 runs last time, but he didn’t get enough support from the others. The Rangers were bowled out for 68 in the first game and need something special to come back. Mohammad Shahzad has looked indifferent until now.

Skipper Nabi has done well with his off-breaks, but his bat hasn’t done the talking. Lewis Gregory has four wickets in his kitty and it’s time for him to deliver with the bat. Taskin Ahmed has bowled only three overs in two matches and Nabi’s plans surrounding the skilled fast bowler remains a mystery.

Probable XI

Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Mohammad Naim, Tom Abell, Jahurul Islam, Mohammad Nabi (C), Lewis Gregory, Nadif Chowdhury, Rishad Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman
