The Sylhet Thunder ceased their four-match losing streak in the BPL 2019-20, beating the Khulna Tigers by 80 runs in Chattogram. However, Dhaka Platoon slapped them with an eight-wicket defeat and brought their miseries back. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat’s Thunder are currently placed sixth on the points table with a net run rate of -0.552 and have plenty of work to do in the last four games.

The Thunder will next be meeting the Khulna Tigers in the night-game on Saturday in Mirpur. Going into the next game, the Thunder can take heart from the fact that they beat the Tigers early, though at a different venue. The Tigers lost back-to-back games, but made a strong comeback against the Rangpur Rangers, beating them by 52 runs. The win has taken them to third in the points table

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch on Friday’s night match was pretty much batting friendly. Dew is most likely to play a part and the track quickened up a wee bit. Hence, batting second should be the way forward. Bowlers won’t have much room for complacency and has to be on their toes throughout. The playing conditions will be clear with the temperature at 19 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be in the 70s.

The Tigers’ batting was bolstered by Najibullah Zadran’s inclusion. The left-hander got a quickfire 41 last time. Mushfiqur Rahim got his second fifty of the tournament in a match-winning cause. He has 213 runs at an impressive average of 53.25. Rilee Rossouw got a golden duck versus the Rangers.

But he is expected to make amends soon. Robbie Frylinck may be given a promotion keeping in mind with form. Frylinck also has six wickets to his name. Shahidul Islam got four wickets in the previous game and he will be high on confidence. Shafiul Islam has been decent as well, having gotten six wickets.

Saikat and Rutherford’s form will be of prime importance. In the bowling department, Ebadot Hossain and Krishmar Santokie have picked up a combined tally of 13 wickets. They have economy around 7.50, numbers which are meek in the T20 format. The rest of the bowling needs to step up.
