Tom Moody understands the shortest format of the game very well, as he has been an integral part of IPL and PSL, in terms of coaching. The former Sri Lankan coach feels that BPL will help Bangladesh cricket in a massive manner. He is the coach of Rangpur Riders and wants to add more feathers to his decorated hat. He spoke on the importance of having a tournament such as BPL.

He said that apart from the youngsters, the international players from Bangladesh will also get to learn a lot from the foreign coaches and their experience. The BPL has been a hit among cricket lovers in Bangladesh and all over the world and Moody believes it can be as good as IPL in the coming times.

On being asked if BPL can make an impact in Bangladesh cricket just like IPL did back in India, Moody told Cricbuzz “There is no doubt that it can have the same impact elsewhere. The IPL has been a great breeding ground to develop domestic players in India and I think BPL can turn out to be the same for Bangladesh.”

Learnings and experience

“Learning from foreign coaches and learning from foreign players and also the international Bangladeshi players playing in the tournament can be a great experience for all the emerging players. Looking at the work ethics and the way elite players train. With the intensity that it’s been done, it only spreads positivity in the grass roots of the game” he added.

Talking about the tournament, Moody said it will grow with time. “This is relatively a young tournament and there are many areas that will continue to grow. I am sure the cricket board will consider various changes and continue to improve the tournament. All these franchise tournaments played around the world are looking to develop and improve and grow. I am sure BPL is the same and it needs to remain competitive.” the coach said.
